Fencing Fleche Footwork
Hi, my name is Brad Bogus. The next footwork technique I am going to show you is probably the most advanced footwork that you will learn and it is known as a fleche. Also, kind of known a cross over run. Now the way you use a fleche is that if you are on a strip and trying to make an attack and your foot is constantly retreating from you and keeping that distance. You are going to use a fleche to make a quick, fast attack and you are going to make sure you want to hit. So to make a fleche you usually, you are on the offensive. Okay? Your opponent is here. You are advancing to cause you lunge they retreat at this point you are extended. You want to keep doing the attack because you see they are frazzled. So you do what is called a fleche. From the lunge position a fleche is pushing all of your weight off your back foot, running forward, make a cross step and then push back off. So fleche is kind of like a little shimmy cross step run down the strip. So the way this would look in action is your attacking, you make your lunge and fleche.
