Advanced Attack in Fencing
My name is Brad Bogus. I am going to guide you through a very advanced and tricky attack known as the flick. Now with all these advanced maneuvers I am showing you, you must get down to basics first because you must understand the fundamentals before something like the flick becomes useful. Basically what the flick is a whip of the blade. Now I will show you how the blade is very flexible and bendy. What you are doing is utilizing that to your advantage. Okay? You hold your wrist out and flick it like a whip. As you can see, my wrist is loose; I''m using it as if I am whipping somebody and allowing my blade in the air to bend substantially. What you are doing here is kind of tricking the opponent getting them in a certain spot that you could not normally reach. Most people can''t parry the back of their shoulder so when do the flick it is without them noticing or expecting it you attack over their shoulder, the blade bends down, hits them on the back of the shoulder on the tip and you establish a point. You can also use to close off distance in close quarters so you flick your wrist and establish line of way by moving forward, you will get a nice tricky and little sneaky attack with the flick.
